Cosmelan Overview

Cosmelan is a two-part skin lightening system made by Mesoestetic USA Laboratories. It is used to treat hyperpigmentation caused by melasma, sun exposure, PIH, and chloasma.

Cosmelan – Product Description

Cosmelan Peel | Cosmelan Peel Reviews | Cosmelan Treatment | Cosmelan 2

Cosmelan can treat many types of hyperpigmentation by halting the production of melanin. According to a skin care clinic offering Cosmelan treatment, the product accomplishes this by blocking the enzyme tyrosinase, an essential building block in the production of melanin. According to locations that offer the treatment, it is very effective. One site states that blemishes improve by 95% in the vast majority of cases in just one week. The before and after photos found online are indeed quite dramatic.

While the Cosmelan maintenance cream (Cosmelan 2) is applied at home, the initial treatment (Cosmelan 1) is a mask that is for professional use only. Locations offering this treatment state that flaking and reddening will occur over the three to four days following application. The cost of the Cosmelan system is not provided on the manufacturer’s site. According to one source, however, spas offering this treatment often charge between $500 and $1000. The manufacturer is a well-established company that offers a variety of skincare products for professional and at-home use.

Cosmelan Advantages

  • Treats many types of hyperpigmentation
  • Highly effective
  • Manufacturer with experience producing skin care products

Cosmelan Drawbacks

  • Flaking and reddening
  • Cosmelan 1 not available for purchase by the public
  • Unknown cost

Cosmelan – The Bottom Line

Cosmelan is a high-end product that appears to be capable of delivering remarkable results. The main disadvantage is that the first part of the treatment must be done by a professional, so not everybody will have access to Cosmelan.

There are many promising skin brightening products available today that can be used to make skin appear brighter and more youthful. At the same time, it is important to carefully consider the promised benefits of any skin brightener in the light of that product's specific ingredients. A quality skin brightener should be formulated from compounds that show promise in lightening skin tone, a function that may also include reducing the prominence of freckles and other sun spots. Optimally, a skin brightener will also offer anti-wrinkle benefits to further promote the youthful appearance of facial skin. Of course, skin brighteners should also be able to help skin appear brighter and more radiant, just as their names suggests. To aid your search for the ideal skin brightening product, we've listed and evaluated each top skin brightener below on its ability to deliver these desired results.

    Hello Zasha,

Yes, cosmelan skin brightening cream effectively works to treat melasma. But, there is one problem with this product. This cream comes in a kit i.e cosmelan 1 and cosmelan 2. Cosmelan 1 can be used by dermatologists only. You can’t use this cream at home which makes this treatment costly. Apart from this Cosmelan 2 can be applied at home. There are some other ways to treat melasma at affordable cost. For this you have to apply home recipes like lemon, aloe Vera etc. and other skin brightening products in the market. The product must contain natural ingredients.
