A Newer Liposuction Method
Liposuction (also known as lipoplasty, Suction lipectomy or liposculpture) is one of the most effective methods of treatment for cellulite and body fat. This cosmetic surgery method, which was introduced in the late 1970s, has since undergone tremendous improvements through technological innovations to making its anti-cellulite role more effective.
There are several methods of liposuction treatments. These liposuction variation techniques include suction, laser, or ultrasound in the removal of excess fat or cellulite. Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction Techniques
The majority of liposuction techniques are designed for internal application by inserting a cannula through the skin to get to the cellulite-affected area. On the other hand, ultrasound-assisted liposuction can be employed both internally (as a minimally invasive procedure) or externally, as a noninvasive procedure altogether. The external version of the application is known as ‘external ultrasound-assisted liposuction’ (EUAL or XUAL.) This treatment is performed above the skin, so there’s no need for a cannula, unlike UAL or other liposuction techniques.
It has however been conclusively proved that the internal method of UAL is deemed superior to EUAL because of the very fact that the former facilitates direct application of the sound wave on the fatty tissues located under the cellulite-affected area. Due to this very reason, or the fact that not many studies have conclusively proved its worth, EUAL has not so far found much favor in the anti-cellulite treatment field.
How Does Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction Work?
UAL procedure follows the same procedure as the removal of excess fat or cellulite. A specifically designed cannula is inserted through the skin that conveys externally generated ultrasonic energy to the affected fat tissues. The ultrasound emission – more in the form of a vibration – begins to break up the walls of enlarged fat cells and transforms the excess fat into a liquefied state. After the destruction of the offending tissues is complete, the liquefied fat is extracted out of the body in a manner similar to liposuction.
UAL can be performed in conjunction with tumescent liposuction to deliver the best kind of anti-cellulite or fat reduction results. After the tumescent solution is injected, an ultrasonic device makes use of its high pitched sound waves to melt the fat. While the sound wave can be applied either from outside or internally, the internal application is more effective. It also helps in leaving the adjoining areas unaffected.
