Natural Eye Cream – Natural Eye Products

Michelle Craig

There are a lot of different eye cream products on the market today, but many of them have chemicals and other potentially harmful ingredients. If you are looking for natural eye cream products, your best bet is likely to make it yourself, although there are organic alternatives available for purchase. These natural eye cream products do tend to be a little more expensive, however, so to save money you can make a natural eye cream using a few simple ingredients. Here, we’ll walk you through how to make your very own natural eye cream from the comfort of your own home.

The first two ingredients you need for any natural eye cream are a wax and an emollient. The wax most commonly used is beeswax, because it is gentle on the skin and will not irritate the sensitive tissue around the eyes. Olive oil is a popular choice for the emollient, as it has a soothing effect on the skin and can help keep it smooth. You can have a perfectly functional natural eye cream using only these two products, although many people will opt to add extra ingredients for added effect.

Common additions to a homemade natural eye cream include aloe vera, chamomile oil, rose oil, and cucumber juice. Aloe vera is an herb with natural healing properties, shown to help restore skin cells and bring color and luster back to the skin. Chamomile oil and rose oil are both very effective at soothing the skin and helping the cream soak into the tissue around the eye. Cucumber juice is added for treating eye bags, because it helps the skin remove excess moisture and tightens the skin around the eyes. Your natural eye cream can include any combination of these ingredients, depending on the results you are looking for.

Start your natural eye cream by heating the wax in a double boiler over medium heat until it is just beginning to liquefy. Separately, heat the olive oil until it is the same temperature as the melted wax (you can use a glass candy thermometer for this). Once the two ingredients for your natural eye cream are the same temperature, mix them in a blender and blend for around five minutes. You can then add your other ingredients and blend again. Store in a jar in the refrigerator to keep from spoiling. Apply your natural eye cream once a day until you see a reduction in dark circles, bags, and wrinkles.

Purchasing an eye cream is a fairly committed decision, since each container of these products tends to last for a fairly substantial period of time. Therefore, eye creams must be evaluated on their ability to deliver a number of desired results. For example, in addition to being affordable, an ideal eye cream must be able to reduce the depth, length, and surface area of wrinkles, crow's feet, and other fine lines. At the same time, an eye cream should also offer relief from puffiness and dark under-eye circles, helping individuals appear refreshed and well rested on a daily basis. Finally, an eye cream should also contain quality ingredients that provide much needed nourishment in the form of hydration to skin cells; such hydration can help delay the onset of wrinkles in the first place. Below, we've evaluated the ability of several of the top eye cream products to deliver these important benefits.
