BioMedic, the developer and distributor of Philosophy Inc products began in 1990 and progressed to medical skincare leadership status. With the foundation built by Cristina Carlino, the launch of Philosophy Inc occurred in 1996. Philosophy’s founder, Carlino, a Phoenix, Arizona resident who sought to provide quality Skincare to those not in need of medical supervision, thereby closing the quality gap between physician-based skincare and what was available in the retail sector.
With Hindu inspired messages denoted with key words and phrases such as Philosophy Purity or Philosophy Save Me on every product, Carlino strives to not only create sense of beauty and confidence on her customers’ outsides, but she also seeks to enlighten them to reach for their full potential every day. Thanks to the brand’s success as well as the powerful technology underwriting it, BioMedic was sold to cosmetic giant L’Oreal sometime in 2005.
In black and white with aqua and blue accents, Philosophy.com promotes its many offerings in skincare, fragrance, bath & body, makeup and hair care. In addition to these categories, the top menu bar also provides links to new products, a gift center and its charity-based products. Showing what tastes good also smells good on the skin, Philosophy’s many products come in delectable scents almost tempting enough to eat. The website offers sweepstakes, charity opportunities, corporate details as well as exclusive offers. Lower and upper menu bars provide text links to the customer accounts, bestsellers, business policies, authorized retail providers, events, a newsletter and the shopping cart. More interactive than most, Philosophy has QVC spots and social networking pages on MySpace and FaceBook.

Using high-octane antioxidants, Retinol, peptides, Vitamin C, Safflower oil, Wheat Protein and Butylene Glycol among a variety of other ingredients, Philosophy Save Me brightens the skin, accelerates cell renewal, and boosts the skin’s internal support structures to restoring skin to a more firm, smooth and youthful version of itself.
Priced at $60 for an ounce, Philosophy Save Me received product reviews which landed on both ends of the rating spectrum. Those that fell in the product’s demographic did appear to appreciate it more than some younger rogue customers who purchased it despite it being geared toward more mature skin.
