Treatments for Cellulite- Five Effective Treatments for Cellulite

By: Melissa Snyte

cellulite refers to the fatty deposits that form under the skin of a woman’s hips, buttocks and thighs giving the area a dimpled or cottage cheese appearance. There are many things that contribute cellulite, such as age, heredity, hormones and weight fluctuations. There is no cure for cellulite, but there are many treatments for cellulite on the market that claim to reduce the dimples and give the skin a smoother appearance. Some of the treatments available redistribute the accumulated fat on the affected areas to minimize dimpling. These treatments work even better when combined with diet and exercise to the decrease the amount fat that pushes against the skin.

Topical treatments for cellulite are probably the most popular products. These products come in the form of creams, lotions and gels that are massaged into the skin and penetrate to help breakdown the fatty deposit that lie underneath. Many products contain herbal ingredients along with stimulant such as caffeine or aminophylline. These ingredients help shrink or breakdown fat cells. Some Treatments for Cellulite also contain retinol that works to strengthen and increase elasticity of skin so that it is less likely to conform to the fatty deposits beneath the skin.

Endermologie is a massage device approved by the FDA as a treatment for cellulite. The cellulite treatment uses an electronic device that massages the skin and uses squeeze, pull and suction to help reduce dimpling on the affected areas of the body. This method temporarily redistributes the fat in the area. Each treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes and it usually requires about 12 treatments before you can see the results. Radio frequency is another choice in treatments for cellulite. This method uses diode laser energy to massage the area and reduce cellulite. Results generally last up to six months.

TriActive LaserDermology is another massage technique choice in treatments for cellulite. The method uses laser to heat the skin in the affected body part to break down the fat and increase circulation in the area. Generally, it takes 10 to 15 treatments before you notice results. Another option in treatments for cellulite is old fashion exercise and weight loss. While this will help strengthen and tone muscles and greatly reduce the dimpled appearance, nothing can eliminate cellulite completely. However, working the large muscle groups helps tone the entire body and reduces fat and in turn helps reduce the embarrassing and unsightly dimpling.
