The most obvious and simple way to get rid of wrinkles is to change the tone of the face. A firmer face means fewer wrinkles. This can be done in several ways. You can get fat, or work out the muscles in your face to firm your skin. Ok, so those are not the best options for a healthy face, but there are many other simple ways to get the skin on your face toned. Chemicals, nutrients, and other components in wrinkle firming cream can change the texture of the skin making it look less wrinkled. Unfortunately these effects are temporary and you must continue to use the product to keep the benefits.
Short of surgery, and costly injections or laser treatments, the only options are topically applied wrinkle firming creams. These are not permanent solutions but do improve the look of the skin with little effort. Some creams may take several weeks to do their thing, but before long you will notice a difference when you look in the mirror. The active ingredients work in several different ways. Retinol is basically vitamin A. It helps the skin to regenerate and is an antioxidant. Free radicals are the result of oxygen molecules that are breaking down. They can do lots of damage to the skin. Antioxidants do exactly what their name says, they fight the rogue oxygen.
Hydroxy acids are another common ingredient in wrinkle firming creams. They are acids that encourage exfoliation of old, damaged, and dead skin. The top layer of skin on your face is held in place by a kind of cell glue. Exfoliation gets rid of that glue and that unhealthy layer of old skin on the surface of your face. This alone can make a huge difference in how you look. It also encourages new skin growth. Aging happens because the skin fails to grow new cells. Hydroxy acids help to stop that process in its tracks.
Arrays of other antioxidants are popping up in wrinkle firming creams. These have much the same effect as retinol. Coenzyme Q10 is one of them. All of its effects are not understood, but it is a fabulous antioxidant. Tea extracts are also becoming popular in skin creams. Green, black, and oolong teas have huge amount of antioxidants. They are also thought to be anti-inflammatory. Green tea is the most common ingredient in skin products, with black and oolong teas a rare find.
