Perimenopause is a stage of woman’s life where the body is transitioning to a menopausal stage. This condition causes the body to experience some menopause symptoms. Menopause on the other hand is a stage where a woman ends her menstrual period and childbearing years permanently. At this stage, many changes are experienced by the body like hormonal imbalance. The symptoms may vary from every woman. Some may experience mild symptoms but some women may experience intense or aggravated symptoms that is difficult to get rid of.

Here are some symptoms that a woman should expect when experiencing perimenopause and menopause:

Irregular periods

It is a common symptom of perimenopause where the menstruation is not experienced on a regular basis as expected. Sometimes, the period is lighter and can sometimes heavier than usual.

Hot flashes

Both perimenopause and menopause stages can experience hot flashes. This is a feeling where the face, neck and or the chest are warm. This usually happen at night which also causes difficulty in sleeping.


This is a feeling that a woman is extra tired and both mind and body needs to relax.

Decreased libido

This is a condition where a woman has lesser sex drive. She feels uncomfortable having sex because of vaginal discomfort during intercourse.

Mood swings

It is a common knowledge that if a woman is at her perimenopause or menopause, her moods change easily. Some may also experience depression. A woman with this condition may also be extra sensitive to stress and pressure. Women suffering this symptom are usually misunderstood.


This is a condition where the bones become week and thin because of Calcium deficiency. This is a condition that needs medical attention right away as it may result to bigger problem like broken bones.

Memory problem

Women suffering this condition are more challenged. They become forgetful. This is also a serious symptom that needs doctor’s attention as soon as possible.
