Will Peppermint Oil Help to Plump Lips?

Get a Peppermint Oil treatment on your lips that helps to plump your lips.

Plump lips are an asset that everybody in the 90s wanted to own because of Angelina Jolie’s[1] famous full, big lips. So, people started getting lip injections. Fast forward to this decade, Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner brood, has inspired the return of the full pout — again, an entire generation of millennials are going to give everything to own her full lips. Well, isn’t that why her Lip Kits always sell out?

Luckily, this is also a generation that seems to be more mindful and aware of what skincare products and cosmetics are made of, and seem to be care more about what they are putting on their body, in this case their lips.

Will Peppermint Oil Help to Plump Lips?

Peppermint Oil for lips

If you’ve been carefully checking the labels on your lip balms, you’d figure out easily that peppermint oil is a common ingredient. Peppermint has natural anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve and soothe dry, cracked lips. Due to the cooling sensation it brings to lips, it also enhances microcirculation and gives the lips a light stinging sensation that causes it to numb and become plumper

Here’s a five-step process on how you can effectively use a peppermint oil to plump your lips:

Step 1: Exfoliate your lips. Prep your lips by scrubbing with a slightly wet mixture of coarse brown sugar and honey. The brown sugar scratches on your lips to eliminate dead skin and impurities sitting on the surface. Honey acts as a humectant[2], attracting more moisture to become concentrated on your lips which helps give it initial plumping.

Step 2: Apply peppermint on your lips. Use pure peppermint oil for this purpose. Put a few drops on a spoon. Take a Q-tip then dip into the peppermint oil. Use the q-tip to apply the peppermint oil on your upper and lower lip. Allow the oil to seep well into your skin.

Step 3: Follow through with an essential oil. Seriously give your lips some more plumping by applying coconut oil or olive oil on your lips. Give it a few minutes to work in. Press an oil strip gently on your pout to take away the excess.

Step 4: Draw your lip outline. Use a highlighter pencil or your concealer to draw on the outer side of your lip line.

Step 5: Color in your lips and around it with your matte nude lip color. Do not draw on the outer highlight. That creates an illusion of fuller lips. You can then take your highlighter and draw on the middle part of your lips, where the highest points are, to make your lips appear larger.

Alternatively, you may also choose to use cinnamon which also results to the same plumper lips. Follow these same five steps, except replace Step 2 with a cinnamon application.
