Does Trimming Eyelashes Make Them Grow Longer?
Ladies – It is a moment of truth. Despite the rumors to the contrary, trimming the eyelashes will not make them grow longer, but can instead cause more debris to get in the eyes and cause irritation and redness.
For those women who are tired of endlessly using eyelash enhancers, it may seem simple enough to trim the eyelashes to help stimulate growth instead – after all, it works for hair, right? Wrong. Trimming your head hair does not stimulate growth but removes the dead hair ends to smooth the shaft of the hair, which gives it the appearance of faster growth. And unfortunately, when you trim your lashes, it might get rid of any unsightly ends, but will actually only cause the lashes to grow back very slowly so you have shorter eyelashes instead. In addition, it is never a good idea to put scissors around the eyes, and you might actually create problems like blocked tear ducts or even an eye infection.
Many people think that a good trim will fix their paltry lashes right up, when it will only make them even sparser. Instead of breaking out the scissors, try using eyelash enhancers that strengthen the lashes and this will eventually give you longer and thicker lashes. Many enhancer products on the market today use natural ingredients like castor oil or even olive oil, both of which are known to help gradually soothe the lash follicle and create a strong, smooth and shining hair out of what was once a ratty and brittle hair. The enhancers can vary, but do try to use those that have hypoallergenic ingredients, as it is incredibly easy to irritate the eyes. In fact, before using one of the eyelash growth enhancers, it is a good idea to test a small bit near the eye and watch for any adverse reactions before applying to all of your lashes.
In addition to oils that you can use topically, you can also take good vitamins that contain keratin, collagen or RNA. These are called the “hair” vitamins, and will enhance the natural minerals needed in your body to help the growth for those proteins found in the hair. Get lots of good rest and have a healthy diet and exercise regimen, as an unhealthy body can only grow unhealthy lashes. If you really want to have some great knock-out lashes, you need to work on your entire body as well.
