How To Improve Skin Elasticity?

Perking Up Skin Elasticity

Skin is a vital part of the body that needs to be well taken care of. It’s our protection from the harmful elements present in our environment, including the sun’s damaging rays. When it comes to beauty, how your skin looks matters. As we know, the skin gets affected by the different factors that life throws us as we age. And that includes the loss of elasticity.

The skin has tremendous elastic properties but its suppleness fades as years are added to one’s life. The vital protein that is responsible for such characteristic is Elastin. As we age, Elastin production breaks down. We cannot turn back the time to our youth or freeze the moment to stop it from happening. However, there are ways that could slow down aging of the skin and improve skin elasticity.

Tips For Keeping That Supple Skin

How to Improve Skin Elasticity

Keep skin supple

Protect yourself from the sun. Exposure to the sun’s damaging rays may cause your skin to age prematurely. Continuous and long exposure to it eventually damages skin elastin. In that case, the healthy elastin will be replaced by the defective ones in time. That would heighten the results of aging, making your skin wrinkly and less supple. Even worse is you may get that unpleasant leathery quality of the skin when you spend so much time unprotected under the sun. As have said, we cannot reverse these effects, so what you can do is to avoid and protect yourself from harmful elements. Wearing sun block is a good way to fend off those rays that are damaging to the skin. It will prevent further damage and will enhance the effects of other skin-firming activities.

Use moisturizers to improve skin elasticity and keep your skin hydrated by treating in with moisturizers. When treating your skin with skin-care products, be sure to choose one that is gentle enough on the skin. There are some that can be abrasive to the skin, especially if it is sensitive. Those commercial products definitely have chemicals in it, as much as possible treat your skin only with natural moisturizers that are gentle enough.

Cut out smoking. Smoking will never bring positive effects to your health. This unhealthy habit will put stress on the skin causing wrinkles and sagging as well as making it weaker. The plumpness and glow of the skin are brought by the increased blood flow within it. Because of smoking, blood vessels in the skin can be constricted, thus resulting in less supply of oxygen and nutrients.

Take your daily dose of vitamins and nutrients[1]. Vitamins A, B and C will give several benefits to your body and one of them is to improve skin elasticity. Retinol, which is the purest form of Vitamin A, works to repair skin damage and protects it. Vitamin C is the nutrient that produces collagen, the protein that keeps the skin supple and soft. Aside from that, this vitamin is also an antioxidant, known to fight free-radicals that will damage skin cells[2]. Lastly, Vitamin B is able to increase the amount of red blood cells, increasing blood flow to the skin and other parts of the body.

Do some facial exercises. Facial exercise has been known to give out positive effects in inelastic and sagging skin in the face. The belief is based on the fact that there will be an increase in blood flow and improvement in muscle tone with exercise. This method won’t improve the elastin in your skin but is overall beneficial. For best results, follow these tips along with a healthy living and diet.
