Disadvantages:

  • Murad did not provide for a list of ingredient ratios in the formulation of this product.
  • Some ingredients contained in this formula had been associated with irritation and allergic contact dermatitis, like cocamidopropyl betaine and glycolic acid. Sodium hydroxide becomes a significant skin sensitizer as well in high concentrations.
  • Does Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser have any side effects?

There is no report claiming this product has caused any harmful side effect.

    Final Verdict

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser washes out skin impurities with its trio of gentle exfoliators in salicylic, lactic and glycolic acids that provide clarity and brightness while dissolving dead skin cell buildup. It has also jojoba beads and sodium PCA to further polish and smooth the skin.

However glycolic acid has been associated with skin irritation. The surfactant cocamidopropyl betaine in the formula has also been linked to irritation and allergic contact dermatitis, reactions that could be due to the ingredient itself or to impurities present in it, such as 3-dimethylaminopropylamine. Sodium Hydroxide can also be a significant skin sensitizer in higher concentrations.

Since Murad didn’t provide for the product’s ingredient ratios, consumers may want to take note of these factors before deciding on a suitable exfoliating cleanser for their skin.

Many companies promise to have created the ideal facial skin exfoliator, but it is important to analyze each of these products in a nonbiased manner. An ideal facial exfoliator should be able to penetrate deep into layers of skin in order to cleanse these skin cells at the same time that it exfoliates them. Such an exfoliator must also effectively remove all dead skin cells, and the best products will even minimize the appearance of wrinkles and other fine lines. The overall effect of using a facial exfoliator should be noticeably brighter, cleaner skin. Below is are several top exfoliator products.
