How to Wear Matte Lipstick – Hassle-Free

By Melissa Snyte

Lipsticks are supposed to enliven your lips and, on a regular day, even introduce just a pop of color on your overall nude face. Matte lipsticks are different. These lipsticks are made to impress. If only for that, matte lipsticks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. You can have the rest of your face in neutral mode but matte lipsticks are still going to kick up your look at least a notch higher!

Since matte lipsticks are extra special, these beauty staples should be treated with utmost respect. In fact, matte lipsticks will make flaws very evident, unlike your nude or silky lipsticks. There are six extra steps you must follow to make sure you get a perfectly flawless matte finish, enumerated below:

Step No. 1: Exfoliate your lips. Matte lipsticks will dry up your skin even more, and an already dry skin will keep the strong, solid pigments of matte lipsticks from really clinging steadily onto your lips. If you have dry, dead skin floating on your lips, these will certainly show once you apply your matte lipstick. For a quick lip exfoliation, help yourself up with a spoonful of coarse brown sugar and a teaspoon of honey or olive oil. After washing and physically brushing off your lips, apply this mixture on your lips and massage in. After 15 minutes, rinse well.

Step No. 2: Moisturize. Use a light textured, absorbent lip balm. Avoid the greasy types to make sure that you get the full color of your matte lipstick. Leave alone for your lips to absorb the moisture. Kiss off any excess moisture or grease before moving to the next step.

Step No. 3: Apply a concealer in your natural skin tone on your entire lip area. This technique will make the pigments in your matte lipstick pop. It will also help ensure that your matte lipstick stays on and stays where it should.

Step No. 4: Line your outer lip with a nude or white lip liner. Avoid awful smudges that can easily ruin your matte lips. These give your lips the added benefit of making your lips appear fuller because of the matte light drawn on the outline of your lips. If you don’t have a lip liner in this shade, feel free to use your concealer, and apply to your lip line with a q-tip.

Step No. 5: Use a lip brush to apply your matte lipstick. Make sure your matte lipstick stays where it should be. Use a lip brush for better application control, and better adherence of the color to your lips.

Step No. 6: Top your matte lipstick with a loose, translucent powder. Freeze that gorgeous, daring pout by applying loose powder to top off your matte lipstick by a light tap of a broad brush.

Conclusion

Now you can enjoy your matte lipsticks worry-free, anytime, any season, and anywhere you need to be!
